About The Commission

The Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) is a statutory body mandated to examine, select and recommend to Sindh Government personnel for recruitment in executive civil service positions. It discharges its duties with due diligence, impartiality, notions of fair play and with dedication. The commission has a long history nearing its centenary spanning more and is duly credited with evolving with time and is now endeavoring to bring the recruiting practices in tandem with modern requirements.

SPSC is an equal opportunity employer and does its utmost to remain transparent in all its practices so that it can retain the trust of the people of the province. It takes due care of the sensitivities associated with it onerous responsibilities and always stays on the positive side of the mainstream.

The pivotal role in the SPSC is played by its Chairman who is usually a top-ranking civil servant who has made his mark in public service having unblemished personal and professional record. His appointment is aimed at galvanizing the people’s confidence in the institution and assuring that it is in safe hands. The Chairman heads a competent board comprising experienced individuals well versed in their respective fields who aid and assist him in running the institution.

On the functional side, the SPSC invites applications through placing advertisements seeking desirous individuals for various posts and positions based upon a standard process which involves a pre-written (screening test) and the written examination followed by interview. The procedure is rather lengthy and sometimes takes weeks and even months to yield results as they are minutely and scrupulously assessed. In order to lessen the gestation period the SPSC is in the process of devising methods to do so without compromising the spirit and efficiency of the examinations. While doing so it also remains mindful of its responsibilities as the custodian of prevailing best practices with respect to competitive examinations and the need to retain the requirements of discretion.
